Roberto is a Superhost with 103 reviews and three years of hosting across the four villas. Born in the 80s, obsessed with amazing restaurants, and quick to answer — the thing guests mention most after the views.
The villas sit in the hills above the north-east coast: Carolina, Río Grande, Trujillo Alto and Cidra. From any of them you are inside an hour of Old San Juan, El Yunque, Luquillo's kiosks and the beaches, with the quiet of the mountain at the end of the day.
Rainforest
El Yunque
The only tropical rainforest in the United States forest system: 28,000 acres of ferns, waterfalls and the coquí singing after dark. Trails run from a fifteen-minute walk to a half-day climb, and the swimming holes under the falls are cold and clear. Entry to the main road is timed, so reserve your slot online before you drive up.
Five centuries inside seven square blocks: blue cobblestones, two forts on the headland, and doors painted every colour anyone could mix. Come for El Morro and the city walls in the afternoon, stay for the restaurants on Calle Fortaleza and Calle San Sebastián at night.
Beach and kiosks
Luquillo
The calmest water on this coast, with a reef that breaks the swell and palms right down to the sand. At the entrance to town sit the kiosks: around sixty of them in one row, all frying — alcapurrias, bacalaítos, pinchos and cold beer, from lunch until very late.
City beach
Carolina & Isla Verde
The wide hotel beach next to the airport, and the easiest sand to reach when you land. Umbrellas, kite surfers, and places to eat that stay open when everything up the mountain has closed. Villa Vista sits in the hills above it.
The town at the foot of El Yunque, where the rivers coming down the mountain reach the flat. Golf courses, zip lines and horse trails on one side, empty beaches on the other. Villa Verde is here, with the forest in front and a river at the bottom of the garden.
Up in the central range, cooler than the coast and green all the way round its lake. This is the Puerto Rico of long views and quiet roads, where the evening comes with a breeze instead of heat. Villa Brisa Serena looks out over it.

We had a great time at Villa Verde! Roberto was so helpful and responsive whenever a question arose and the views of the beautiful rainforest were amazing. The outdoor space couldn't have been lovelier, we enjoyed the pool and grilling in the patio kitchen, and the outdoor shower + bathroom were a big plus for our family of 7 (with 4 teenagers/young adults!). Gracias, Roberto! :)
